Background[]
Julia Michaels wrote this song in a recording session with Benny Blanco and StarGate, where they wrote, recorded and produced the song. After that, it was pitched to artists including Charli XCX, who at the time was recording demos of other people's music due to requests from her record label. XCX recorded a demo for the song, but untimatetly Michaels refused to give the song away as it felt "too much my story to give to someone else".[2] Charli's demo leaked online on August 2017.
